Aim
Engaging younger generations and the general public with the story of Nordic Mountain Cattle through interactive learning, by developing a dedicated mobile game application.
Activities
WP6, led by Riitta Niiranen, Ahlman EDU Vocational College (Finland), translated the project’s research into a digital format to spark interest among youth. The team designed and built the “Nordic Cows” mobile game, in which players manage a virtual herd of mountain cattle across different historical eras, facing realistic challenges such as winter survival and breeding decisions. This approach provided a fun, educational way to learn about the breeds’ resilience and cultural significance. The Nordic Cows game was released in 2022 on the Google Play store (Android). It served as a novel outreach tool complementing the project’s communications (WP1) and continues to function as an educational resource beyond the project’s end.
Results
The Nordic Cows mobile game.
Fact gained from the projects are combined with fiction in an interesting way and it is up to the player to create a future for the cows on the farm.
